4 wheel dr problem

I have some kinda issue going on with my 99 silverado 1500... the 4 wheel dr does not seem to engage. the orage light for the auto, 2 wheel, 4 high does not come on in the dash either..I live up in Alaska so I really need to get this fixed, Any one out there got any ideas

It sounds like it may be the 4wd selector switch. It is a common problem , the solder joints on the board for the 4wd selector switch break. You can either take the switch out and resolder all visable connections to see if that fixes it or just purchase a new switch.

I would just get a new switch ,they are a pain to fix. I think they are like $61 at the dealer, that is the only place you can get them.

Hello, Sounds like the old 4wd switch, it is a common problem just had mine replaced switch cost me 65$ no problems since!

Similar issue with a 2000 push-button 4wd: I received erroneous Service 4WD light and intermittent switch stubborness. I pulled mine out, took it apart and had no broken connections. Cleaned up the switch buttons and it has been fine since.

Sheesh...you guys can rebuilt an engine in an hour and a half but you're afraid to solder itty bitty solder connections? Save your money it's easy!
