Re: 4 wheel dr problem
It sounds like it may be the 4wd selector switch. It is a common problem , the solder joints on the board for the 4wd selector switch break. You can either take the switch out and resolder all visable connections to see if that fixes it or just purchase a new switch.

Re: 4 wheel dr problem
Similar issue with a 2000 push-button 4wd: I received erroneous Service 4WD light and intermittent switch stubborness. I pulled mine out, took it apart and had no broken connections. Cleaned up the switch buttons and it has been fine since.

Re: 4 wheel dr problem
Sheesh...you guys can rebuilt an engine in an hour and a half but you're afraid to solder itty bitty solder connections? Save your money it's easy!
