lojack install

I bought a bunch of lojack devices wholesale and want to put one in my car. Is this something that I can install myself or have installed at a car audio store? It seems from what I've been reading that they have to be installed by a certified lojack installer, but that costs around 600 or 700 bucks. Any ideas?

Re: lojack install

The plug looks simple enough to install. It's just 3 wires. red, black, and blue. I would think that all I need to do is get power to the unit so that it will send out the tracking signal once I register it. If anyone could give my advice on how to install it that would be cool.

Chen, do you have any more info on thoseLo-Jack units? I’m a real advocate of these things but they’re so damm expensive! I’ve been saving up for one for the longest time.

Re: lojack install

I have the transmitter, wiring harness, 2 batteries, and 2 early warning passes. Check out http://www.lojack.com For the best info on this stuff. I cannot make any guarantees on the stuff because I have not installed it to try it out. I was told when I bought it that it must be used along with an existing security system. Each unit has a unique serial that you need to provide when you register it. You will need to register the system with LoJack before it is operational. I do not know if it needs to be installed by an authorized LoJack installer or if anyone can install it. I would assume that any average joe could install it. Here's a pic. Let me know if you would like to buy one. Just hit me up with an offer.
