Question 5.7 Intake gaskets

I am about to buy a 1999 truck with a 5.7.What is causing the intake gaskets on these vehicles to let go?Would it be of any benefit to re-tourque the intake bolts and asure even presure across the mating surface?
Just a thought/any input appreciated

Re: 5.7 Intake gaskets

They were just badly designed, and usually need to be replaced. Tightening the intake bolts just makes it worse. They have redesigned the gaskets though.
