Question Rear wiper removal

I am trying to replace my rear wiper motor on my 93 grand caravan and am having trouble figuring out how to get the wiper blade disconected from the motor.

Any ideas?

Assuming you've already moved the clip and tried pulling and gentle prying taking great care not to crack the rear window, and at this point you've probably cracked the Dodge logo, I can tell you that the dealers simply cut the shaft on the motor and then replace the motor and the arm. That's why it's a pricy fix at the dealer.

The best solution I've seen though is to drill a hole in the center of the arm all the way through to the shaft so you can use a wheel puller to remove it pushing against the shaft. You may need to use a metal rod or something for assistance to fit into the hole you drilled, but it works like a charm. I highly recommend liberal use of a good (like Kroil) pentrating lubricant before any attempt to remove it.

Re: Rear wiper removal

The rear wiper is held on with a c clip. A screwdriver should be all that needed.

The arm is pressed on over the splines in the shaft of the motor. The wiper arm is made of aluminum and the motor's splines are steel. Usually removal will result in the arm being stripped out. If this happens, it can be repaired by lining the inside of the wiper's arm mount with a single layer of masking tape and pressing the arm over the new motor's shaft.

Typically wiping heavy snow results in the arm falling off with the mount being stripped. I repaired two cars in this manner.
