Cool decal technique
This may have been done before. But here goes anyways
![]() I used Walthers decal solvaset..number 904-470. Brushed it on the body before applying the decal. Applied the decal, brushed the solvaset over top. Used a Q Tip to take away any bubbles or excess salvaset underneath and around the decal. Then..sprayed a light coat of Testors Ultra Gloss Clear over top...Then another light coat....and now a heavy wet coat..and viola! No reaction or anything! Decal is completely underneath the clear and it looks beautiful. I did this on a spare trunk off of a aoshima Celsior. I used extra drift decals from a Silvia that I did not need since i made it a street car. Hope this helps everyone. Sorry no pics ![]() -Chris |

Re: Cool decal technique
A yellowing clear coat over carbon fibre decal could actually look pretty cool. Might have to give it a try in future using some yellow clear or gold pearl added to the clear mix.
IIRC that similar to what Rob did with his Supra last year. Except he used blue pearl over carbon fibre. |

ive always used duplicolor clear top coat over my finishes and carbon decals, so far so good, no yellow or anything. just start with real light coats.
