95 yj wont start

it started a few months ago being hard to start but it would always fire up eventually. About 2 weeks ago it stalled on me on the wey to work and couldnt get it started back up,so I had to be towed home 43 miles. After I was home I tried starting it again but no luck. For some unknown reason I had left the key in the on position. after a couple of minutes the fuel pump relay and auto shut down relay started clicking, then I had fuel presure and was able to start up. I changed the fuel filter, ignition switch ,coil ,and plugs and wires. I droped the fuel tank thinking i may have a fallty fuel pump, but it works when I run 12v to it. Any suggestion would be awsome. c.j.

I had a very similar problem. Turned out to be the fuel pump relay. There was small crack on the side of the relay. I did replace the ecu and cps before replacing the relay. Hasn't had the issue since, except when off roading and the relay wiggles loose.

I REPLACED THE RELAY AND NO LUCK. THE RELAYS CLICKED AGAIN AND I WAS ABLE TO START THE ENGINE. I DROVE FOR A FEW MILES AND STALLED OUT. IT'S LIKE WHEN EVER THE ENGINE GETS GOOD AND WARM I LOOSE SPARK AND POWER TO THE FUEL PUMP.RRRR. WELL BACK TO WORK.

Could be the fuel pump ground that attaches to the mounting bracket for your e brake. I had a similar stalling starting problem and that was and still is my problem as I cant find the damn wire.On my rig if the fuel gauge pegs to full when I turn the key it wont start. Watch your guage when you have trouble starting. If it pegs to full you may have the same problem as me. I'm able get started buy pulling the ebrake release lever a couple times.

You may want to check out the battery cables. I had a vehicle that acted the same, I found corrosion in the positive cable, under the insulation, about 6-8" away from the battery. Replaced the cable and no further probs.
