Re: Winter Tire

i think the PROXES 4 looks to be your best bet for winter . It didnt say the tread wear letter though, so it might burn up fast on dry pavement. Didnt mention how many miles it should last for either. But for the price.

I preferr these.

Re: Winter Tire

Personaly I like to use real winter tires and try to stay away from anything that mentions performance. The only performance I want out of them is to safely (without question) take me where I'm going

Re: Winter Tire

I think its a personal pref. & how much $$ you have to spend. But can you really put a price on safty? NO!

Reall winter tires , do they even fit on a GA rim? Looks kinda funny.. I guess you could get some cheap steal wheels for winter, then just swap rims. Factory rims dont like concreate curbs at all, thats for sure.

But to answer you question Werm9 , the PROXES 4 looks like it would perform best in wet & snow, but its really hard to say without Physically examining the tires.
I use the Good Year Assurance, just as roboticgod .

BTW-Who makes those kickass rims Werm9 you have? 18's right? Sure the heck wouldnt want to bump curbs with those.

Re: Winter Tire

im assuming since i have after market rims all tires that fit my size rim are called performance tires because they are aftermarket. just a thought. i am looking for strictly winter tires because the ones i have now i will use for summer. to answer your question my rims are made from sport max. i got them from wheelmax.com. if you do buy wheels and tires from them dont install them ony our car right away. go to a shop and have them rebalanced. because they used cheap stick weights on mine and they weren't even balance right. the place i took mine to says those sticky weights are junk. wheelmax did refund the costs of having my wheels rebalanced which was great.

tires

I just put on Kumos all season. Won't know how they handle in snow till we get some. They were $90.00 each. I got them on my truck and my burb and they work great in the snow.

what do you think about this tire for winter. It's rated summer but it has a aggressive tred with a wide tred. the reviews are also impressive

Re: Winter Tire

the Exclaim UHP's sound like a good wet tire, they didnt metion snow , but snow is a totally diff situation.

With Big fat tires you tend to drive on top of the snow, and then they like to dig for road/pavment and get your ass stuck. I'm sure any GA owner can testify to that.

Money is usually the problem with geting the proper tire(s). Better hurry, i think snows soon on its way.

whats the main difference of summer and winter tires. for winter tires are you suppose to look for wide deep treds so the snow doesn't get packed in the treds? are there any other good sites besides discount tire, tirerack?
