Its for a 1995 v6 . 3.4l or 3.8L (both hp gains and prices would be great

You might get 15-20 hp. I have I/H/E on my 3.4 and honestly havent noticed much gains. But it does definately feel like it breaths alot better and has a little more oomph to it.

in my opinion its totally not worth it. even with a 20hp increase your car will still be slow. if you have a 3800 with a 5speed your looking at low 15's. so if you do some bolt ons you mights see high 14's. why not put that money tords a v8 or a turbo kit.

ive posted a thread about this before and havent really gotten a answer. i have a 3.4 v6 and want to switch out with a v8. what all do i really need besides a engine and tranny to do that and how much more horse does a 8 have over a stock 6 (160hp)

well i'm glad to hear you wanna switch to a v8. honestly it's your best bet and you will be the happiest.

Now, theres many v8's that will go in your car fairly easy. the easiest v8 swap you can do is an LT1. it's the engine that came in the formula and trans am same year as your firebird. It really all depends how crazy you wanna go. i mean shit, you can get a crate engine fully built from jegs if you wanted to. in order to put the LT1 in your car you will need:

The LT1 engine and tranny
Wire harness
ECU(computer)
most likley the driveshaft
gauges from the dash
motor mounts

What you should do is find a wrecked trans am and use the parts from it if you could. i know a kid here in my town and he did the same thing you want to do. he started off with a base firebird and trans formed it into a trans am. You just want the drivetrain so you have it that much easier then he did. plus your car would be a sleeper cause everyone would think its a base firebird

Finally gettin some answers... curious how much a v8 would be, like the cheapest v8 with reasonable km or m and would easily fit into a firebird.

There would be a lot less hassle and cheaper in the long run to just trade your V6 in for a V8.

well it really depends on many things. whats more cost effective spending 25k on a trans am or Z28 or spending maybe 3-4 grand over a period of time on a swap. also, your car is registered and tagged as a firebird your insurance will be much cheaper then a trans am. it's like these turbo hondas with engine swaps. they get a shoe box civic, stuff a b18c in there and turbo it. they now have a car that runs 12's and pay 200a yr for car insurance lol

Well yeah it would cost 25K for lets say, a 2002 Trans Am WS.6 with 15k miles on it. They're really not as expensive as you think them to be. Check on AutoTrader.com. I see the 93-97's going for under $5k, and the 98-02's going under $10k all the time. Doing a swap just doesnt seem worth it to me. I've contemplated doing it, but after finding out all the stuff I would have to upgrade along with doing the swap, it just wasn't worth my time. I mean, if you love your car but dont want to trade for a V8, then I would say go for it. But I just hope you have alot of time and patience, because I know I wouldnt if I had to undermine that task.

well some ppl don't find it that difficult. it's really not that hard and you save money. not only on the cheaper insurance, but in the total cost of the car. i surf auto trader and cars.com every once and a while and yea they do go for 5k like you say but they always have high miles. which soon you'll have to rebuild the engine or tranny cause these cars take a lot of abuse. i mean this guy has a firebird which he probably almost has paid off. why start over with a huge monthly payment for a nice fast f-body that won't need work in the near future. i guess its all prefference really. if your the type of guy that can see yourself doing the swap then sweet if your not willing to get your hands dirty then get a newer one and pay the extra cash i guess.

i mean look at my situation. i paid 2700 on my formula, knowing it had 110000 on it. i bought it with the intentions of rebuilding it. i coulda bought a nice southern third gen in great condition with real low miles for way more money but that wasn't what i wanted to do.

yeah , like i dont mind mine right now but its got 222xxx km's and i only paid 4k (canadian) so i just want to know the cost of this if I need to do it after the winter if not next year

i bought my 94 for a little over 1k. had it for alittle bit now but im not satisfied with the hp. so you figure 1k for the body and i can get a lt1 engine and tranny and all that other stuff for about $1500 total from this guy i know. but i dont know how much it cost to have someone put it in cuz i live in appt. and i cant do it there but im still getting a nice v8 bird for $2500. so if somone can guess how much installtion is and how much hp does a lt1 have that be gravy

LT1's have 275-285 hp. thats good for high 13's. i'd imagine installation will cost a lot. most shops charge 38 bucks an hr
