Please Help!!! Asap

I have two 12inch subs in my 97 Monte. They were installed at best buy with no on/off switch for the amp. So the amp was always draining my batt. My sub box also has LEDs hooked up to the amp so that was taking power to. So I wanted to put a switch in, and they told my I can just cut the Remote line from the head unit(stock) to the amp and put one in. So today I tried it and it was not good. My stereo doesn't work at all anymore and my anti-lock light came on. Then I took the switch out and connected the wires back togather and its still messed up. But like everything else works fine, even the bottons on the head unit light up at night just the display screen doesn't come on. What could be the problem and how can I fix it?????? Thanks

Re: Please Help!!! Asap

From every amp i have ever had it turns on with the car. When the car turns off the amp turns off. I would say bestbuy messed it up if the amp was constantly on.

Thats why i dont let those losers touch any of my cars. I had them install a system in my first car and brought it back a few weeks later because if i turned it up so high it would distort terribly. The way they "fixed" it was to just turn the bass levels down on the amp, when the real problem was my RCAs on my headunit.

Agreed... what he's saying is that BestBuy didn't put a switch on the remote wire, and then when he did, stuff started messing up.

I don't know what it could be, did you ground it correctly? Are you sure you have it hooked up to the remote wire and not some other wire on the head unit? Mine has a blue remote wire, and a blue/white wire for something else.

Hmm... ImtheoneandonlyD was right, it should come on/off when you start the car or turn it to accessary. Make sure your radios ACC wire is hooked up correctly and the single, small wire going to the amp (not an RCA) that's usually blue, is hooked up correctly. This is like an amp acc. and goes directly from your reciever to the amp, sending when to turn the amp on and off. Thats all i can think of.

Re: Re: Please Help!!! Asap

Hi Any Idea with my Amp? I want to know if he can drive the sub 12'' 400w RMS nominal input 1000watts peak power
Continuous Power (20Hz-20kHz, 0.08% THD)
4 ch: (4 Ohm) 65Wx4
4 ch: (2 Ohm) 75Wx4
2 ch: (4 Ohm) 150Wx2
Maximum Power (EIAJ)
4 ch: (4 Ohm) 130Wx4
2 ch: (4 Ohm) 300Wx2
Frequency Response: 10Hz - 50kHz (0,-1dB)
Total Harmonic Distortion: 0.003% (1kHz, 4 Ohm)
Signal-to-Noise Ratio: 105dB (IH

Thanks in advance

Most likely they tapped the Remote wire to the 12v power wire. This will cause the amp to turn on all the time. Your system might be messed up when you installed that switch because you might have shorted something out.

Best Buy might not take responsibility for it because you tried to put the switch on there. Take the switch out and wire the wiring together. Pretend you never did anything to it
