shifter assembly
hey, inside my gear shifter it makes sounds, clicking sounds, and it kinda gets cauget up on somthing when im comming to the left side from the right.. so it really feels like its comming from the shifting assembly not the transmission, so im thinking there might be a loose bushing or somthing?? i dont know, but i took the console out and i cant really tell whats going on, i really want this to stop, its not a big problem but a big annoyance.. so i want to replace the whole shifter assembly, do you know how much these would cost? probably only available from the dealer too??
well thanks for any help, and does anyone else get the klanky sound?? and know what i should do about it?? thanks for replies in advance shaner 2001, SL 5 spd |

Re: shifter assembly
the bushings are known to be problamatic. commonly causing slack in the shifter.
http://www.saturnfans.com/photos/sho...hp/photo/6934/ near the dipstick is where the cables connect to the transmission. they are held on by little clips that come right off. if you can reach them, i would disconnect them and try the shifter again

Yeah, on my sl1, those clips are a b**** to get at. On mine, the entire shifter cable rusted and snapped. Oh what joy that was to replace.
