clutch

Hi, i got loads of problems with my car but i will start of this this one.
peugeot 306 1994 xl 1.4 got it for £700 total to sort out damages over £1300 including two new drive shaft, new exausst back and middle box, 2 tyres, 2 anti roll bar link, new right wing and some others..

anyways, basically i noticed this problem a while ago but didnt pick up on it, i been moving off by revving a bit, so when i turn second gear and accelerate it revs up then drops. i took it to F1ACenter to get 'something else' checked out, he said that problem is minor (another story) but hes concerned about clutch, he said its slipping and needs new one £160.00 fitted includes VAT (IS this worth it)
i went to mr clutch and he said yep it needs a new clutch, £179.00
he did the test by putting it into 5th gear and tried moving off, it didnt stall.

what other methods are there to check the clutch?
i been driving (not regular since being told about clutch) i have to get it done asap but cant afford it especially with insurance due in december.

I'm only 18 by the way

hi, a little tip i got told to test a clutch. with the car stationery. Put the car in fourth gear and raise the revs to about 3,500 revs and release the clutch. the car should stall, if this happens the clutch is fine. if it doesn't looks like the clutch is slipping. make sure you do it in a empty place where you cant hit anything though. i will not be acountable for damage.

Yes What Sierraboy Said Is True. I Have Held This Is One Of The Best Ways Of Actually Testing A Clutch To See If Its Slipping.
