Need Help with Gasket replacement
Ok so my brothers 97 blazer blew the intake manifold gasket. I removed the upper manifold and am currently working to get the lower manifold off. The last bolt holding it to the block is hidden underneath the A/C bracket. I got the compressor off and the top 2 bolts of the bracket off, but the 2 bottom bolts are hidden underneath the pulley. I can't seem to get the pulley off. I tried a wheel puller and all that did was start to bend the pulley. I looked closer and it seems to be held on by at driver bolt. When i tried to loosen it I couldn't get the pulley to not spin, even with the belt tension holding it. Do any of you have any advice to get this off? Once I can get the pulley off the rest of the job is doable. Get me out of this ditch!!

Re: Need Help with Gasket replacement
You have to remove the AC mounting bracket itself. The bracket is holding the lower manifold on to the block.
Are you talking about the tensioner pulley? You don't need to take this off. |

Youdon't actually have to remove the pulley and or bracket. If you get the a/c off and most bolts holding bracket on. gentley but forcable pry the bracket from over the bolt you can get it enough to remove the bolt. Worked 4 me. plus be very very very careful removing the manifold. there will be a tone of crap in the water ports and it will fall into the galley. any other questions on this post'em ill be watching for a lil while. but 4 now my son is bleeding so i have 2 go

when you are looking at the engine its the pulley directly underneath the a/c compressor. It is completly covering the 2 lower bolts holding the bracket on which in turn is covering one of the bolts holding the manifold on.

You must be a real sweetie then.
Actually taking the time to draw everything out for someone else, that you've probably ever met. I see that you live in Hell. Weird so do I until I move tomorrow ![]() I might try talking you into doing a drawing of my 2 rods sometime. Give me an idea what they'll look like when they're done |

Re: Need Help with Gasket replacement
Now I know which pully your trying to take off. The power steering pully. You'll need a GM pully puller and installer. Anything else will break the pully. KD tools makes one that doesn't cost much.
