Fingerprints

I didn't know finger prints on a decal paper would cause much problem if any until today. It is printed on Experts-Choice clear decal film with photo paper settings.

Pics are blurry, but you can see the little waves on the logo which are actually finger prints. they extend out of the ink and is visible even on the white paper.

Does anybody know how to clean decal paper from fingerprints? I tried rubbing it with moist toilet paper and it seemed to make the surface sticky and wrinkled, while not removing even a trace of the previous fingerprints.

I think the resolution of the decals are good enough to make a sharp image on a red painted surface. I just wanted to know how to deal with the dirty paper surface that I have left it alone for quite some time.

Thanks!

Re: Fingerprints

Ok, Just to warn you, Newbie talking here!!

If I understand oils correctly, it's like putting a drop of oil on normal paper. try it. The paper will soak up the oil. If im not wrong this is what has happened here and I don't think you will be able to remove the fingerprints.

Anyway...

Don't mind me if I'm wrong. Maybe the more experienced builders will give better insight.

Good luck

Re: Fingerprints

Decal paper is a lot like photo paper, or any other paper for that matter - it absorbs oils, water, dirt, etc. if the surface is marred wit hoils from your fingers, the inks will not adhere properly. There is nothing you can really do to fix this - I think that paper is ruined...

Unhappy Re: Fingerprints

Oh no....I think I was looking at all 3 sheets in the package the same way...one of them i havent even started using! I could take another look at the unused paper to check for fingerprints...but chances are they are all ruined!

Thank you both of you for the answers though.

Oh well, those decal papers had been sitting around at home for the last 2 years anyways, by they way, do these decal papers disintegrate over time? Will it work better if its new compared to being a couple years old?

I also bought the testors decal paper and I thought the testors one was better (ink doesnt melt as much when liquid decal film was applied, and it doesnt curl outward after applying into the model like the experts choice did) could it be because my experts choice papers were old?

Thanks.
