M6 vs A4 with high stall + shift kit from a roll

Im thinking about getting a LS1 camaro from a friend of mine in a few days and im pretty excited about it, except for that it has an A4.
I can get this car for a pretty good price, and it has low miles, but im concidering the idea of waiting a little longer untill i can find a 6-speed camaro because i like the M6's top end so much.
The one with the A4 is mostly stock, and if i get it i will bring it up to 400-450rwhp n/a and might use a 150 shot of nitrous at the track.

My question is, with a shift kit and a high stall torque converter, how would a 400rwhp a4 camaro do against a 400rwhp m6 camaro from a roll?

From a roll....probably close to even.

From a dig...auto would wipe the M6's ass.

How you plan on making 450 RWHP N/A??

You might need more than a shift kit though, I'm not sure, depends how he treated it too, Mine wasn't treated the best but not horrible either and was rebuilt at 55,000 miles. If you want an Auto with shifting like the M6 then there's a kit that gives you 4 overdrives for a total of 8 gears...but it's over 2 grand. It's pretty much a seperate gear box bolted to your transmission, but it will save you gas mileage too which would might pay for itself. http://gearvendors.com/articles/supe...v04/index.html

Re: M6 vs A4 with high stall + shift kit from a roll

Im with Lous on this one, although its not that hard to make 400+ HP NA. A good size cam like say the magic stick or something simialr paired with LT's is good for 400HP throw in some AFR heads, change of pullies, LS6 manifold, good exhaust setup and a great tune u wouldn't be far off, maybe not 450 per-say but not far off.

then you still have 3 forward gears with a 1:1 or more ratio while the M6 has 5, so what's the point performance wise???

Re: M6 vs A4 with high stall + shift kit from a roll

I don't know, I just thought it was cool lol. I don't know jack shit about tranny ratios, but it explains the ratio difference between all the gears or percentage or whatever it is on the A4 are pretty far apart, but with this kit it puts them closer allowing better pickup and I don't know what else lol
