Front end Clunk on accel
Hi, My 95 has developed a clunking sound from the drivers side wheel well upon acceleration from a dead stop. Any suggestions?

Re: Front end Clunk on accel
Check the brake and the axle shaft also check the wheel bearing for play. When wheel bearings wear they sometimes will knock when you start out not common but possible. Brake may be binding or you may have a loose caliper but my bet is that you have a CV joint on the axle shaft going out. If so it will need to be replaced.

Re: Front end Clunk on accel
If it was just the CV joint, I'd expect it to make noise not just on start ups but also on corners as things shift around. I'd also look at ball joints and tie rod ends in addition to the CV joint and hub.

Check ball joint, if cv was a problem likley you would have shake on excel. when there is the most thrust against the joint, wheel brg gone there will be constant noise transmitted through the van. So my bet is on a ball joint.

Re: Front end Clunk on accel
Lower control arm bushings are a common clunking problem on these vans, something to look at.
