Re: first car need help

The Fiero Store is one of the more complete Fiero-specific groups out there.

The Fiero seats are unique to the P-body. They can be reupholstered to look as new. The driver's side typically gets torn up at the outer edge where you slide in and out of the car.

The 2.8 has lots of potential, but the return on investment isn't as good as some other engine families. We have a "package" for the 60 degree V6 (what the 2.8 is). It includes upgrading it to a 3.1, a performance cam, good head work and rockers. The stock fuel system and exhaust work well with it, under 6,500 RPM. It changes the character of the car. It drives more like a muscle car. That doesn't mean it's as fast as one, but the low-end and response are excellent. It makes the little P-body a FUN car to drive.

There are guys putting 3.8 super-charged engines from Grand Prix GTPs. Those MAKE SOME POWER! It's not a trivial swap. Some mount fabrication, total exhaust system fabrication, and a multitude of electronics issues.

There 's also a "kit" out there to put a small block Chevy in there sideways, with the TH125 transmission. My take is the transmission would be too weak for long life with a V8 on it. I know another that has snaked a 455 Pontiac in one. That's a very quick car. Big money...

Maybe you could elaborate on what exactly you want the car to be capable of.

Re: first car need help

Nope, no "kits". It's all up to a good chassis builder.

If you weren't going to go super-charged, I would go V8. Turbos make power but are a maintainence nightmare, especially when they aren't "factory".

You might consider a ProCharger. These are relatively new, and gaining popularity. They incorporate the better features of both a blower and turbo (belt-driven turbine...).

V-8 Archie DOES offer a "kit" to put a small block Chevy in there, but the transmission becomes the weal link.

try a couple of these sites for parts to do conversions your self, west coast fiero is pretty good, so is fast fieros of dallas

http://www.westcoastfiero.com/
http://www.fastfieros.com/
http://www.rodneydickman.com/index.html

as for seats check around some aftermarket seats will fit and some places do sell seat rails to fit, but they are a pain to get the seats in, you can also try www.mrmikes.com but they are leather and almost as much as some aftermarket seats.

another place for a lot of info is www.fiero.nl
