94 Civic LX Starter?
Thanks for reading.
As you'd assume I've got a 94 Civic. When you turn the key to on, nothing happens...but when you turn it to start the engine fires up and will run. If I back the key off 2-5mm so that the starter disengages, I can get it to stay running. Of course, then when you let go of the key you're a roadblock. Any Ideas? I just dropped it off at a place in town and the guy first told me 120 then upped it to 475. I was like....um, yeah.....not happening. Please, any and all suggestions, along with links to part shops online that you trust and purchase from. Thanks in advance Brian |

What did they say was wrong? One of my thoughts is that it could have something to do with the ignition switch.

When I release the switch, the whole thing goes dark. However, somewhere between turning it to start and the ON position, the cluster will come back on.
I went to two places today with it. Yes, I drove it holding the key, but whaddya gonna do? So the one place had a NEW ignition switch, 475 with installation because of the breakaway bolts on this thing. They were going to drill down my old ignition (thus I would have separate keys for door and ignition, boo) and it would be new. I then went up the street and found a car parts yard and the guy sold me a used one for 50 and told me he's strip the harness (all I wanted) and install it for 75. Couldn't beat that with a stick in Atlanta. Both people told me it was the switch part. Do you think this is correct? Let's hope it works.... |

Re: 94 Civic LX Starter?
Its just the electrical portion of the switch. There is no need to get the whole assly and recode a key. Its easy to do you can probably do it on your own. Its just 2 philips scres that hold the switch to the back of the ignition switch.
