2002 Alero Horn wont stop/Blows with no Warning. Windows & Brake problems

PROPS for this Web Site!!!

I laid on the horn for 2 seconds last friday, and it stayed on. As I was driving I kept pushing the Horn but it kept blowing. Finally went off after Pulling on the steering wheel housing cover a bit(not off). Twice since, while parked (engine off), the Horn blew consistently with out warning. Once at 2:00 in the morning. Finally just took out the fuse and am driving without a horn. It seems its just on the right side of the housing. Afraid to pull it off for a look as there is a AirBag in there. Any Advice?

UPDATE:!! 11/11/05

Since the Horn "Contacts" are incased with the air bag in the steering wheel the whole unit is $800 !! unreal...where can i get a "steal this car" bumper sticker?? this combined with a driver's side window malfunction (Regulator)($300) is an indication Alero's are lemons oh and I only have 25500 miles on it. Any more advice would be appretiated.

And YES Brakes need to be replaced every 25,000 miles. My Midas guy says ceramic pads are better for Alero disc brakes.

NO RECALLS EXIST for any of these things.
No wonder GM is going down the tubes.

Be very careful while reinstalling the fues, you could set off your airbag!!!!!! I say disconnect your batt, then install the fues then connect the batt, of course when you find the problem. i think it could be a bad connection, try looking at the connection first.

I had the EXACT same issue with my 2003 when it had only 11k miles. The horn would just start blowing for no reason at all. The dealer had to replace the drivers side air bag to solve the problem.

OMG, Thought I was losing my freaking mind, I have had the same problem with an `03 Alero, twice at 3 am the stupid thing went off, and everyone and every dealer i talked could not see any reason for it to happen. There has to be a fix for this besides spending $300 for an air bag that doesnt really have a problem.

Any ideas I would love to hear them.

Thanks

But the thing is that the horn is in the air bag cover. There is no way to just replace the horn button. They told me that the contacts were way too close and as the plastic air bag cover would contract with the change in temp, it would cause the horn button to make contact.

Just remove the fuse for the horn.. And replace it when getting it inspected.. Your finger works just as good....
