Quick stereo questions
I am currently considering the purchase of a 1999 Mountaineer that is in awesome shape.
If I buy it, I will want to replace the factory MACH stereo/CD/tape deck with a JVC CD/MP3/Sirius deck I pulled from my old vehicle. The MACH system has a decent amplifier, and furthermore, the vehicle has rear console controls (so passengers in the back can listen to an alternate radio station). So here are my questions: Does anyone know, is the amplifier in the MACH system a separate unit or integrated with the stereo? And, will the rear console controls work with an aftermarket system? I'd appreciate a quick response, as I can get my stereo installed free of charge by the dealership when I purchase... Thanks! |

I know that there is a part called a pac swix that will integrate the steering wheel controls but I don't know about the rear seat controls. Second you will need another adapter to run the stock amplifier. I am not sure what it costs or what it is called. But the pac swix runs about $70 I know crutchfield carries it. If it were me I would just go ahead and stay with the stock stereo if you want to keep the rear seat controls or use the aftermarket stereo and buy another sub and amp. You can call crutchfield or go to their website and they can tell you what the adapter for the amps cost and what it is called. Anyway good luck.
