DX With a EX VTEC Head Swap

I`m looking to add an EX VTEC complete head to my lonely DX motor...has anybody ever tried this before or know what kinda of power it will put to the wheels ? It`s pretty much the same as an Integra LS/VTEC Frankenstein Swap. I can get the whole assembly bought and installed for $500 . Would you say this is a good deal ? Any opions will be weclome.

now that's what you call a rip off, because you can get a Ex engine for $500. Well the conversion is not like a ls/vtec, because the Ex head on a DX block won't cause problems like when you do a ls/vtec. The dx and ex use the same block so your pretty much just making your engine turn into a EX from a DX. You will get the same amount of power a EX engine would have or maybe slightly lesser.

Getting a whole engine for $500 is mainly heresay. Yes, there are some good deals around, but everyone with a cx, vx, dx, lx is looking for one so they're hard to find that cheap. A head swap with labor might cost up to a grand installed and you're still not gonna have the power that an EX has. It's not really worth it on a single cam. And no, done right, you're not gonna encounter any problems on an ls/vtec either.

i got p28 ecu for 50, head can be pickedup anywhere for about 180 and misc gaskets, make it 300 total. If you could get the ex motor for 500 go for it, make sure it comes w/ ECU. Most DX, CX and VX are 1.5L crank, so the EX engine assembly w/ 1.6L crank would be worth the $$.
I put mine together for 200, and that includes the beers.

I think you should just do the head swap it will be fun and I think it is pretty cool. Dude it's all about having fun in the game. Do the head swap with the turbo.

it not worth it. if your gonna spend the money, spend it on something worthwhile. like a b16, or an LS motor.
i'm not saying it'll cost the same. but don't be a cheap ass just to end up wasting money in the end.

Or you could do what everyone else does and swap a B Series motor. Dude if you want to be diffrent I say go for it. If you don't like it then sell the motor and swap. If you do try it I really don't think you are being a cheap ass for trying something diffrent or real tuning. Taking a small low horse power engine and trying to make it fast. Isn't that what tuning is all about?
