2000 Cavalier that died on the road

The car acted sluggish and just died on the interstate. This happened suddenly. It will still act like it wants to start but won't. Every fuse was checked and they are alright. The lights all run fine, it just acts like it isn't getting any fuel. Any suggestions how to check for a bad fuel pump or whatever else may be the problem?

everytime u want to cranck the engine u have to hear the fuel pump

if u dont hear the pump check for relay and fuse if that is ok

then bad pump

u can also check for fuel pressure in the fuel rail just to make sure there is fuel there

I had the same problem with my 01 2.2. It ended up being a bad fuel pump at 15k.

When my 2000 Cavalier died it was just out of gas even though the gauge said I had a 1/4 tank. What happened was Shell gas was screwing up my fuel sensor. Instead of having it replaced I changed gas stations and everything started to work again.
