cruise control speed, is it accurate?

I have a 99 Sebring JXI Conv. A couple of days ago I was stopped for speeding. The State Patrol says I was doing 91mph. To this I told him that is not possible. I had the cruise on and maxed out at 85mph. Ok yes I was speeding, but not 91mph. Big difference between 25 over and 31 over when it comes to points!

1. Does anyone know where I can find printed material stating that the cruise control has a govener that will not allow it to be set past 85mph? I would like to be armed with this info when I go into court.

2. Has anyone ever experienced setting the cruise at one speed but that the accuracy of that is off so you're actually going faster then the speedometer reads?

Thanks in advance for the help.

KE
