Post Check Engine Light and No VTec

I have a 98 Prelude SH, my check engine light just came on a couple of days ago and i've checked the oil and its fine, and my VTec is not kickin in, and sometime when i drive my car, the idle will change for no good reason to 1500 and it will stay that way until i turn off the car and turn it back on then it goes to normal. When i start driving it again it goes to 1500 (only happens every so often), its been happening more and more often lately.
Could it be because of my 2 broken engine mounts??????????, i just ordered hasport, and i'm waiting for my order, but i'm still worried it about it. Let me know if anybody knows anything about my situation

Thanks, Lud For Life

Re: Check Engine Light and No VTec

Search this forum for how to pull the code from the ECU - that'll tell you exactly what's wrong.

I would go down to autozone and have them pull the codes. there's no way it's related to the engine mounts. Could be the IAC or maybe one of your O2 sensors. Do not disconnect the battery to turn off the engine light, get the codes so you know exactly what the problem is. Autozone checks codes for free.

Re: Check Engine Light and No VTec

Sounds like a bad 02 sensor or TPS sensor. Take it to autozone like everyone else said and get the code.

Re: Check Engine Light and No VTec

troubleshooting is pointless without pulling the cel first.
