Coolant Flushing

I definitely need to flush my cooling system before this cleveland winter hits. What is the proper way to do this? I noticed that there is what looks to be a flushing connector spliced into a hose going into the engine. Also should I buy any cleansers to run through the system before refilling with coolant and water.

Than You!

Re: Coolant Flushing

The flushing tee that you see is generally in one of the heater hoses and a good way to flush old coolant from the engine with a garden hose, or to flush out one of the over-the-counter cleaners you can buy at the auto stores. Those are generally a mild soap/detergent and are not a bad thing to use. Just use them as directed and flush them completely out of the system before refilling with fresh antifreeze.

Re: Re: Coolant Flushing

Running a hose through the engine will not push all the old coolant through.
only way to get all the water and coolant out of the engine is to unscrew the plug in the bottom of the block. Its actually a sensor and not hard to remove.

The knock sensor on the right side and a pipe plug on the left. Simple.
