91 integra brake issues!!! HELP

today i changed the front brake pads on my 91 integra...

put them on had to loosing a 14 mm bolt wich let out some fluid on each side just to release pressure on the brake so i could fit the new pads in there...

got i tput together... but now my brake pedal doesn't have pressure for shit... the car stops but not good ...

do i need to bleed the fluid if so how do i do this?



also when i drive sounds like something is scratching kinda like when ur brakes go "BAD" scratching noise while driving then when u press on da brake it goes away?..?

well at first youll need to pump the brakes to refill it with brake fluid. and you also do need to bleed your brakes, you dont want to risk any air in there.

to bleed the brakes, as you are pushing the brake down open and close the bleeder valve quick, do this until no air comes out.

as for the noise, jack up the front and spin each front tire and see which one is making noise and where it is coming from. actually it sounds like the brake warning, thats weird. but yeah

You might want to invest in a "one person brake bleeder kit" if you don't have anyone to help you. Ot you can rig one up by getting a clear tubing just large enough to slide over the bleeder nipple and insert the other end into a clear plastic bottle. Key is that you should not get any back-flow of air bubbles into the pistons. You can actually prefill the clear jar with some brake fluid if you want to make sure.

Also check the bleed order. Different cars have different orders of bleeding. i.e. right rear, left rear, right front, left front. But your car might be different, so you should check.

As far as the noise is concerned, there are many possible causes. It may simply be that the pads needs bedding/break-in process. Or you may have scored rotors, or the pads might be slightly sticking. Push the piston all the way back in and retry. Also don't forget to use anti-squeak lube.

where do i apply the LUBE AT EXACTLY?...

after i bleed the lines ... it should be GOOD RIGHT?

The lube goes anywhere the caliper touches the pad. Yes, hopefully after you bleed it the pedal will feel right again.

Don't put it on the friction material!!! Just spread lube evenly over the back of the brake pad where it touches the shim.
