91 Bonnie Hole in Gas line.

Hello folks!! My brothers bonneville is "spraying" gas. we believe from line directly off the tank. anyone know how detailed the replacement of the line is. is it in sections, or 1 solid line from front to back? any info would be much appriciated. thanks!

The fuel lines consist of the steel sections coming out of the tank (the sending unit), rubber flex hose sections (about 12" length"), and then back to steel near the fuel filter. Corrosion protection for the steel sections apparently was not high on the priority list for these cars. Many times the lines crumble while changing the fuel filters.

The good news is that the lines are usually OK from the fuel filter to the engine and there are ways to repair the rest. I replaced the fuel sending unit, flex hoses and a 20" section of the supply line on my 90 when I bought it. The sending unit was about $118 from Advance auto, the flex hoses were a dealer only part at about $50 each, and the 20" repair section (with compression fitting) was from Advance I believe.

From your description, it sounds like the sending unit is leaking. If so, I would replace the whole thing rather than repairing a small section. It might be difficult to disconnect the lines due to the corrosion so you might end up having to replace all of the items described above.

Thanx for the help. I went to advance and they told me they couldn't help me. I was Kinda confused. But I found the info without them anyway. Turns out my brother doesn't want to spend the time /money to fix it.

What year and trim level is it? I always have my eyes open for a good body for swap projects. I might be interested in it depending on the amount of rust. Something tells me though that it's not too much better than mine cause of the fuel line leak.
