First off check the fluid level. If it's low add fluid until it's at the full mark. How does the fluid look? Bright red? Black? Somewhere in between?

Being a 95 I would be willing to bet it has high miles on it? How many miles does it have on it?

Do you hear any noise when it's put in to drive?

Check on top of the tranny and see if the cable is moving when the gear selector is moved.

It could be a solenoid burnt out.

What is the general condition of the van?

Check the above things and post back. I hope others can add a few thoughts.

Regards

Dan
