Re: lookin at 2 diff 7's

Buying a modded RX7 os like having sex with a hot chick with STD's. At that second it seems like a great idea, but it comes back to burn you later.

Making 320whp that car must have aftermarket fuel system on there. As well as a pretty decent fuel management. I woudl get ALL the facts about the one that is modded Look over the hole car like no other. But sounds to me like you just want a fast car at little cost. But if not then i suggest the first mint one for sure.

320whp? He can't be legitimatly smogging that thing. You'll have to think about smog also. You might be stuck getting under the table smogs for the rest of your life. That can be costly.

Without a FCD i would not even tuch the boost.
Stock fuel system i woudl not excede 10psi (i have seen more but you dont want to risk it)

If the only power adding modification there is a 3inch exhaust you wont see a hole lot. But you will NEED a fuel cut defender with that as the turbo will spool up much better and reach higher boost levels. Without that you will run the rear rotor lean and kill the motor. and trust me that is not a good thing.

I have seen 400whp rx7's run 13second 1/4miles, sop i would not be able to tell you what kind of time you may see. Its very dependant on the driver, but the 7 is not a go fast in a srtaight line type of car. She prefers the corners much more. If you are going to launch the car hard you will want to look at some diff bracing, subframe spacers (either OEM or aftermarket solid ones), rebuild the diff, half shafts, driveshaft, ect ect. Keep in mind that the 7 is not a drag monster, take it to the mountains

Re: lookin at 2 diff 7's

try asking around on some of the rx7 forums

if i get a standalone, you can have my fcd (its for 86-88 cars though)

ive seen a 400hp rx7 run 12s (was a FD)

anyways, forget all this upgrading shit, make sure the car runs fine before you do anything to it, change fuel filter, do an oil change, change spark plugs, check the cat for clogging etc

Re: lookin at 2 diff 7's

honestly, you are gonna have to put a ton of money into either one within a year of buying it. these cars are money pits. quality parts for these cannot be found aftermarket, and i wouldnt trust a junkyard part any more than a politician. buy it if you want, but be financially prepared

Re: lookin at 2 diff 7's

thankfully no... i get to drive enough of them and the 8's to get the picture. dont get me wrong, if you get a twin turbo running right they are impressive. but i see the kind of money people have to dump in them to keep them in good order, and its just not worth the hassle to me. i just want lilskyline to get the whole story and make an informed decision
