engine service light

I own a 95, C-280--------------I have been reading alot about causes and potential repairs and the resetting of the fault code and the service engine light. I also own a corvette where clearing the fault code and light can be accomplished by disconnecting the battery. Can anyone tell me if I can disconnect the Mercedes battery and accomplish the same thing. Thanks for your help

since I didn't get any replies I decided to try the disconnecting of the battery-----------it did reset the service light and fault code-----I'm hoping it might have been some bad gas or who knows what that set the service light. Might be something to try before taking your car to MB for a big bill------------hopefully mine will not reset

dougd2000,
thanks for the post, is your light still off? I will also try that and see if it helps my mothers c280 , 1996 with about 72,000 miles. the car runs fine, smooth idle, you just have to love that 6cly. this car is getting a little better than 20mpg around town, but the service light is on.

YES THE LIGHT IS STILL OFF AND DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY FOR SURE WOULD BE SOMETHING TO TRY BEFORE GETTING AN EXPENSIVE MB BILL------------DOESN'T TAKE MUCH TO SET OFF THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT-----

WHEN YOU DISCONNECT THE BATTERY YOU WILL NEED TO RECODE THE RADIO AFTER HOOKING THE BATTERY BACK UP----I HOPE YOU HAVE THAT NUMBER IN YOUR RECORDS??----------LET ME KNOW IF THIS FIXED YOUR PROBLEM
