goodyear triple tread tires

does anybody use these tires? they are highly rated on the internet. the question i have is i heard they are not for use with wheel covers because there's a lip on the tire where it seals against the rim & that would cause trouble when trying to mount wheel covers. i have a 2001 sc2 with wheel covers & i would like to buy new tires soon & i would like to try these. i looked at a set of these in a showroom, & there is a deep a lip on the tire. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....nce+TripleTred

i assume you have wheel covers, & not aluminum wheels? what size tire does your car have?

here is a reply from goodyear concerning that tire lip: Sent by: Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company Consumer Relations 728 1144 East
Market Street Akron, OH 44316 Voice #: 800.321.2136 Fax #:

The tire is designed with a rim guard. Some wheels with full size wheel covers
will not work with the tire. The rim guard will eject
the wheel cover. Suggest you visit a Goodyear retailer and have someone look at
the application and determine if you can use the
Tripletred tire.

so i ask you again, does your car have full wheel covers, or the aluminum wheels? if they work on your car, then they will work on mine as well...

I THINK I'M GOING TO GO WITH THESE TIRES. they look like good tires with a great price & warranty. they seem to be soft quiet riding tires too. i don't want to have to worry about that lip which goodyear says might eject the wheel covers off! http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....e1=yes&place=5

I put these Comford treads on my mothers' Crown Vic.
She loves them and says she should have put them on earlier.

Re: goodyear triple tread tires

i wound up getting those triple tread tires after all. they are awesome tires! great traction in rain & snow. my wheel covers just clear that lip on the sidewall. i can see where these tires would not work with wheel covers. if my wheel covers were slightly larger, they would hit the lip & cause problems. the saturn wheel covers are small enough to work. these tires are warrantied for 80,000 miles. we'll see how that plays out. my original firestone tires only lasted 21,000 miles before they started to dry rot & vibrate badly...
