Passat '92 with climatronic - problems

Hi!
I have some problems with the air flow in my passat '92. It's not possible to change which way the air flows, so it only comes air beneath the window and at the front, nothing at the floor, and norhing happens when I push the buttons, except that it 'clicks' (relays?). Secondly, no air comes from the vents in the middle front, only from the sides.

My guess is that it's the motor(s?) that doesn't work. But I guess that there could be a lot of other things (error on the climatronic module, damaged wires etc.). Have anyone else had this problem? What is most likely the problem?

Also, I heard that the Passat '92 is able to 'put out' error codes. Maybe I can use this to trace the problem? Can a private person use this feature in any way, or is it only for technicians?
