selling question

I bought a 90 civic dx and I have seen a fair share of problems. I blew the head gasket, then their was a cooling problem, and I just changed the distributor, cap, wires, ecu, fuel pump, fuel filter, so it is running good now, the thing is the body has 250000 and the engine has about 100,000 on it. But i don;t want to have anymore problems, because i keep it I WANT to go to California which is 1400 miles from texas

Re: selling question

Cheap gas can suck though. I got Murphy USA which is always one cent cheaper than RaceWay and it made my car run like ass. But it was right there and I needed gas and didn't want to go down the Interstate 2 exits to get gas... haha.

I guess I haven't been north in awhile... haven't seen WaWa gas stations.

Very true... I only use name brand gas in mine... Any time I try and skimp on the gas, it runs like ass for a week... I swear those 'ghetto' gas stations pour water in there to safe money...

Re: selling question

there is no "bad gas" bull shit. all gas has to pass a certain grade to be sold as 87 octane, 89, or 93. Same as motor oil. Its all the same.

Its always to worst time to fill up when the tanker truck is filling the inground tanks as well.

What does that mean? Would that negate your other statement about there not being any "bad gas"? I do believe that dirt and shit can get into the gas lines even if it is still 87 octane...

Funny thing is at work I use to see the tankers some fill our tanks, then head over to Shell and fill theres. Then you get all the idiots saying man you guys gas makes my car ping, I can only run shell without it pinging. Sure go pay 15cents a gallon more for the same thing.

You're absolutely right.

Still, I've had some shitty luck with Sunoco fuel right after the hurricane... apparently they ran out of gas and then refilled the tanks but the prices for each grade were the same. So I get 93 and my wife puts 93 (as always) in her 1.8T. I bet that shit was 87 though.

I just think that when the tanks go dry, dirt and shit is more prone to get into the mix and pumped into your car...

Re: selling question

Some gas stations put more ethanol in their gas to make it stretch. If they don't know what they are doing (not mixing correct amounts) then it can make your car run crappy.

Re: selling question

ok well i used to work at mobile and on the reciept of what they gave us it would say 5% was water in the 87oct which is normal from what i heard. Also have to agree about the hurricane gas switch, at that same time i was gettin full tanks cuz my gas gauge was acting wierd but i knew how long a full tank would last, didnt last as long around that time, i know that lower octane burns faster then higher so i would go through the low octane gas faster then high oct. though i dont see how thats possible but it just does. And crap at the bottom of the station tank as well as ur car tank will get into your lines when either tank is low. So i spend alittle more at the pump for 94ultra but i get an extra day out of a tank, and at driving 75miles to and from work id say its wirth the extra .20 a gal

because when the tanks are being filled is stirring around all the dirt, water, and other sediment on the bottom of the tanks.

Re: selling question

do you know about the filters between the gas tanks and the pumps ? that filter the gas. while true filling up the tanks will stir settlements and water around, the amount of water is very small and anything big will get filtered through that filters.

i worked at a gas station for 3 years, in the tanks that i worked at. there was 5 gallons of water in the tank but then you talking 5500 gallons of gas. so you can see how the % is so small.
