I too had a rant about Revell kits the other week. TBH, they are bad, but I'm told no worse then some other kits, and sometimes better then Tamiya but AMT and MPC are even worse then Revell, or so I'm told.

Sometimes it depends on the kit. I'm working on a Revell Cobra, and it's not a bad kit TBH. Parts a little messy, chrome was crap, but on the whole OK.

Re: I will never buy another Revell...

Revell kits are more challenging to make to look good, but they have an interesting variety and some good stuff, plus they're cheap! Their newer kits seem to be better though, like the SRT-10. Plus your case sounds like a packaging error, which can happen even with Tamiya.

Re: I will never buy another Revell...

i dunno, just every revell kit ive had has been warped/mising parts/ horrible fitment/ bubbles in chrome parts....etc. but i see what you mean for the packaging error, do you think that they would send me one? I'd hate to waste my time for nothing.

Re: I will never buy another Revell...

I have never had as big a problem with revell as you guys have. But then again, I've only built one tamiya kit and it was a bike. Sure they have their little flaws. some engineering errors here and there, but it happens. If you want to build a lot of the modern and especially the older american muscle cars, you don't have a choice. some claim that amt and mpc are worse. but, if you want a higher detail and not really any more parts than a revell amt is the way to go. The require a little more clean up and finess but great finished products.

you can just go to their site and order your needed parts. They charge $3 shipping and you can order up to 10 pieces.

Re: I will never buy another Revell...

Like drnitrus said, you can goto their website and order replacement parts.

The MPC kit Im building right now is actually fantasic, yeah there was flash and molding lines EVERYWHERE, but its detail is fantastic. The model itself was made in 1977 so I guess I could understand the molding lines and flash.

Re: I will never buy another Revell...

Yall are expecting the quality of a $50 model for $10! It doesn't work that way! It's like me expecting the interior fit, quality and performance of a Ferrari out of my Honda Civic! Revell rocks. I've never had a serious issue with a Revell kit that wasn't my own fault (lack of prep usually)

Re: I will never buy another Revell...

I am not sure where you guys are getting your kits , I have never had these issues with Revell. IF you want something thats absolutely perfect and takes no skill though I suggest you switch to collecting die casts!!!!!!!!!

So true, its a real shame that most kids lack the creative juices these days. Too many conveniences these days, everyone expects things to be done for them.
