Question power steering ?

just a quick question.. i haven't had power steering in like 3 months.. well i finally got around to getting the belt and i put it on the other day and now it is making all kinds of noise.. its not only when i turn its constant.. never did it before with the other belt.. i got it from the dealer so its the correct belt.. any ideas what the "squeeling" could be? maybe some belt dressing or something? if anyone has a idea let me know its really annoying and im about to take it off lol.. thanks

Re: power steering ?

Could be something on the belt or the pully. Maybe the power steering pump is making that sound from not being used for so long?...

Ya know, now that I think about it. My one friends car did that with another belt and we started it and while the belt was moving we ran a stream of liquid dish soap onto the underside of the belt. It was tricky, we jacked up the one side of the car some so it was leaning enough to hit the bottom part of the belt with it. It quieted it down immediately. Not sure if its the right thing to do, but it worked. lol
