Snow Driving

I'm interesting in maybe getting an RSX-s, but I plan on moving to Colorado soon and need something that's decent in the snow, but still want something fun to drive. Anybody have any feedback about how these beasts handle in slick weather?

I bought mine in Jan. '05 (I live in mid-Michigan) and had some bad experiences in the snow. Nothing terrible - once got stuck at an intersection in Downtown Lansing - but I still had the stock tires with maybe 10% of tread remaining.

The Falken Ziex ZE-512s I put on in April should help in snow driving - I hope!

RSX Type S stock tires suck, with winter tires and fwd you should be fine

My car has survived three winters (or maybe 4, can't remember) on the same tires from the facotry with no real problems. I once got stuck on a hill, but that was because there was no ground clearance on my car even though I wasn't lowered. That was an extreme case however, because a bunch of trucks passed hours before, wet snow came and froze the tracks that were made earlier, and then I got stuck.

But yah, you should be fine, but invest in winter tires.

I lived in Colorado for two years with a Civic EX running on bald tires. You'll be fine in an RSX. They don't use salt and sand...it's more like fine gravel. Maybe more like coarse gravel, actually. Be more worried about your bumper and windshield than your tires.

Seriously, though- in and around Denver and outside the front range the snow is no big deal. The RSX would be fine. Lots of flat, straight, open roads and Frontrange twisties for summer driving, too. The only time I was ever freaked out was driving through some of the passes at night when freak storms hit. Even 4WD and AWDs were all over the road. Not to mention a 4 cylinder drives like a lawnmower at that altitude on some of those inclines. You may want to get something with more power.

If you're worried about a front wheel drive auto, pick up a WRX. Otherwise, drive slowly carefully in the snow. I haven't had any problems with snow, but it gets to a deadlock where I'm at whenever there's a slight flurry!

Dude, i leave Quebec Canada and we already have around 5 inches of snow. It wil be my firts year with my type-s and i bought some average snowgrip. It's really good winter car! With the heated seats and a good clearance for a sport car, i think it's the best you can get after the WRX.
