How many miles on the car?

Sounds like:
Intake manifold gasket!!! Very common problem with the 3.4L engine. Did mine last July was leaking for almost a year, and I was afraid that it would blow out completely with the strain of the summer months.

If you look up under the intake at the back of the engine above the transmission is where you might see it. Mine was on the surface between the head that is to the rear of the car, and the manifold, and I couldn't see it, until I pulled the airbox, and intake tube with the massflow air sensor, once that was out of the way, I could see it, it was tracking down inbetween the trans and the engine!!!

If you can do the work yourself, it is cheap only cost is for gaskets and coolant. I flushed my engine while I was at it and changed it over to green coolant from dexcool. Call around, some shops will check it for free!!!!

Good luck with it!!!
