Crankshaft Position Sensor

I have an 02' 2500HD with 28,250 miles on 8.1L gas motor. I just received a $500 bill for 'crankshaft position sensor'. They say it is not covered under warranty. I understand I'm out of the 3/36, but there is a California emissions warranty that is 3/50 for light and medium duty trucks, and 5/50 for heavy duty gas engines. Apparently they are considering this a light/ medium duty engine. I asked the service guy what they consider to be a heavy duty engine and he said he did not know, but mine wasn't covered. Any thoughts???

Your warranty/ emissions supplement book should list the exact components as to what is covered.

It was a part that was listed in the warranty book and they still said that it was not covered. Anyway, the service guy called back, he had checked into it and it was covered.
