I read youre original post on this, and you mentioned that youre new to diesel engines. Being used to gas burners, you may be expecting too much from the diesel. The 7.3 is a good strong engine, but no match for a gas burner the same size. If youre pulling heavy loads in the hills, youre gonna be running with youre foot on the floor most of the time. A 460 will run circles around it, but will only get about 4 or 5 mpg doing it lol But there are a few things you can do to help a little, without spending a ton of money. The stock air filter/ housing is restrictive. I think the 94 uses the same as the earlier ones. If it is , the top of the housing, with the big bubble on it, blocks about 25% of the area available at the top of the intake. You can take a grinder, or jigsaw and cut this bubble off, its a silencer. Or you can find another top that fits it. Also the snorkel tube can be taken off or modified to give more area. Use a K&N filter kit, this will improve flow over a stock filter. All this will give you a few HP. Have dual exhaust installed, with more free flowing mufflers. They dont have to be loud unless you want it. You can have the injector pump recalibrated to deliver more fuel, and have the timing set to match the fuel delivery. Find a reputable shop that does this kind of work!!! Dont trust it to someone who just says they know how to do it. If you turn that magic screw the wrong way, and get it too lean, youll melt some pistons!!!! Talk to some of the hotshot guys, and see who they might reccomend. A shop that rebuilds injectors and pumps is a good bet. Theres usually somebody working there that knows how to tweak one. Other than this there aint no chips for this one, not the 94 i dont think they came out with the powerstroke till 95. Its computer controlled, electronic injection. There are some hot rod/racing/tractor pulling tricks, but i wouldnt reccomend em for the street. Propane injection. nitrous, mixing gasoline and other things with the fuel.........
This`ll help some , without going to a turbo. Good luck
Later
Ed
