Re: Hard tire compunds?

I think we need a bunch more info!

What class are you running? (A little info about mods allowed as this varies a lot around the country.)

How long is the track? Banked?

Some additional thoughts - Are you asking for a harder compound because the tire wore out? May be it needed more pressure or more camber? Are you allowed to change the Ackerman?

If you're wanting help, you need to give us as much info as possible.

For example, you told us the vehicle has minimal mods, but what is modified IS important. My IT racer had minimal mods too, but it was soooo much faster because of the springs, shocks and sways bars, and I could set the alignment to any value I wanted - needless to say I went for as much camber as I could physically dial in.

You said the tire was stock - Did you know it's history or was it just something out of the junk yard.

Was the tire speed rated?
It "totally blew up". A little more description, please!

Did the tire wear out - like into the belts? Was the wear even?

Or was the tire punctured in some way?

Or did the tire separate between the belts? What pressure were you running? How much build up do you experience? What about tire temperatures?

The more you tell us, the better our advice will be. It just might be a harder compound is exactly the wrong thing to do!!
