Early 90's Park Avenues?

I was just wondering about this car and its suspension.

My fathers car is a 1992 and its had its right front wheel come off twice.

The front strut's, ball joints and cv joints are all messed up and I was wondering about these cars.

I have seen many 91-92 parkavenues with the exact same damage that my dads car has from the first time the wheel came off, I hope people understand what I'm taking about you know what damage I mean.

The right fender is either torn up or is replaced.

So it came to my mind that this is most likely a real problem with these cars other then a coincedence that over 20 of these cars I have seen had the same problems.

hopefully somebody knows of recalls or something because I was just wondering, other then the front suspension this car is a real nice ride.

Re: Early 90's Park Avenues?

What caused the wheel to come off? Was it a hub bearing or ball joint that failed?

If either is totally neglected long enough or not given routine inspections, I assume the wheel could break off. You would have plenty of prior warning with all kinds of noise before anything like you described happened.

It was the ball joint and a large crack in the freeway basicly that made the wheel snap off.

I got one with over 200,000 miles on it and that has never happened to it.

There are a lot of replacement ball joints on the market, however, that is one part I would not skimp on when replacing. Moog or TRW may cost a little more than the Chinese brands, but "you get what you pay for".
