1/12 Williams FW14B Renault Project

Hi, I am new to these forums and this is my first thread. For my first thread i decided to build a Tamiya Williams FW14B in 1/12 scale.

It is going to be a very detailed build and i am looking for advice on what aftermarket goodies to use. I plan to use lots of SMS carbon fiber decals Camel fill in decals and i would like to use a perfect parts brake set. I know that the set was designed for the Ferrari and Mclaren kits that used Brembo brakes. Does anybody know wheater or not this will fit on the Williams kit that has AP Racing brakes.

If there is anybody who has built this car I would appreciate any advice.

Here are some Pictures of the kit (sorry about the crappy pics but i dont have very good lighting right now)

I need to gather reference and some aftermarket stuff before I begin construction. I will post more pics when the build is underway.

Welcome Whilhelm! Great to see another Formula 1 modeler here!

I'm afraid I can't offer much in the way of advice for aftermarket goodies for this kit, but I'll definitely keep an eye on this thread. Make sure to keep us posted with lots of pics of the progress!

I actually have a BMW Williams FW24 to finish before I start this one. So for now if anybody can give me advice on this car that would be great. In the meantime I will start another thread for the BMW.

Re: 1/12 Williams FW14B Renault Project

I have built one of these. Went together without much issue. On my kit, the engine cover screw holes didnt match up with the threaded holes in the chassis. Check that before its too late. Also, be careful removing the engine cover as the front of it interferes with the mirrors when its all assembled.
Good luck, and welcome to AF!

Does anybody know if the perfect parts brakes will fit on this kit? I am considering buying a set and making them work.
And I am probably getting the Clear View F1 book for christmas. If thats the case then this project will not start until then.

I believe the brake set will work, but it is not entirely accurate. There is talk that the next perfect parts set will be for this car, so maybe you will want to wait. Although knowing perfect parts, if they do make a set it will probably be available in about 1000 years.
