Re: 86 gt

Any 19 year old car can have suspension problems, especially if it still has original suspension. If the car was WELL maintained, the high milage may not be a major issue. Pull the trunk carpet up on the right and left sides to check for frame rail rust damage.

Check the heads and make sure no bolts are broken in the heads.

Just make sure there is no grinding when shifting.

I'll think of more later

Re: 86 gt

I just bought an 86 for $3200 but it's damn sweet. The only thing I've noticed is that they do ride HARD. I feel every bump and it takes a hard hit when you get those pot holes. It's a auto also and which I had the manual. For $1,000 and if runs decent and don't have to sink alot of money into it I don't think you can go wrong for that price. They are starting to become collector cars.....few more years and their value will really start going up.

Re: 86 gt

If the car rides hard you may want to have the suspension looked at. It should be firm, but do stay away from pot holes.

The only Fiero values that will be going up are pristine low milage stock Fieros or fully restored Fieros. The cars are 17-21 years old and only the 84 Indy Pace Car, the GT models (especially the 88s and Formulas) may appreciate.

Seventeen-twenty year old cars need lots of maintenance ($$$).
