camaro question

hey guys, i might buy a 96 camaro.

it has 90,000 miles on it, and is in pretty good condition.

Its an auto, had cloth interior, and these options:

Driver Air Bag; Anti-Lock Brakes; Air Conditioning; Alloy Wheels; Cruise Control; Passenger Air Bag; Rear Window Defroster; Power Seats; Power Door Locks; Power Mirrors; Power Windows; Power Steering; Sunroof/Moonroof; Tinted Glass; Tilt Wheel;

it also has the 3.8L engine.

how much would this car be worth?

Dealers website says $4000, and on the cars window, it says $5000.

Thanks

EDIT** oh yea, how hard woulkd it be to drop an LS1 in the car? What about a 3800 III supercharged?

thanks

Re: camaro question

Well $4,000 isn't to bad from a dealer, of course you can try to talk them down. As for the LS1 swap its been discussed and plan on spending $10k+, so I would recomend the 3.8L FFF turbo, check out camarov6.com for more info because a lot of kits are on sale there and a few guys are currently running with them.

Re: camaro question

yeah u are wrong, my car is a 96 3.8, and the difference in the 96 and 97 is the pcm on the 96 cant be tuned u need a 97 or newer one if u want to tune it. maybe thats what u were thinking. but the price isnt bad they wanted 5700 for mines a year and a half ago when i got her but i managed to get her around 4k. and the ls1 swap is what im doing as we speak, and it aint cheap. i wont go out and say 10k but its up there. if u shop smart u can do it for 6-7.5k alot of folks will tell u to just buy the ls1 car but i say damn that...i dont know about u, but i want the newer camaro engine without the bug headlights in front of my car like the ls1's have..(i hate those lights). go for it kid, and when u have the cash for the swap do that as well

Re: camaro question

Is the 3800 series III front wheel drive only? But i think the turbo setup would be better.

haha, i should have let the v6 guys talk first... i guess i just assumed the '97 was the first year of the 3.8 because alot of people have said that a '97 v6 is the most desirable of the '93-'97 v6's...

Re: camaro question

In 95 they offered the 3.4 as base and 3.8 as an option
same w/ 96 and 97 they made the 3.8 standard and scraped the 3.4
