Angry ac/heater control

I've put three heater control units in this car and all have failed through the vacume control. would like to save this unit but can not find a replacement. I assume comverting to an electric syatem would be out of the ? . Winter comes and need defroster. any help

lots of times the mechanical part of the controls (the levers and stuff) would kind of fall apart. we used to remove the control head and put a bolt thru the area where the levers pivot.
