more power

ok i have a 1991 escort gt, she is nice its got shaved door handles body lines and roof channels, full body kit and a custom paint job. It is now november so she is off the road for winter. I am planning on rebuilding the engine and squeezing the most power out i can any one know about turbo's for the 1.8L? She already is fast but i want faster (who doesn't) also my themostat seems to have problems the car like to get into the hot hot hot zone b4 the themostat kicks in and cools her down, it can get scary at times anyways any info would help.
