Red face sluggish performance and tranny issues everything wrong

99 Eclipse GS Auto 84k miles

Problem one,

Car is really sluggish perfomance, it seems like im pulling a trailer behind my car, off the line i can floor and it and accelereate reallly really slow til about almost 3k before it takes off, also slow down to lets say 20 mph, i can push on the gas it just doesn't wanna move, i have to make it down shift to atleast 3k by pushing on it pretty hard, as the same goes on highway i have to have it downshift down to 3rd gear for it to move to 50 to 65 mph without having to wait and wait and wait, i know the car isn't spose to be quick and all but it seems i have to bring it up to atleast 3k to keep up with traffic and i have had a 95 cavalier auto and it seems to put out so much more hp at low end rpm. I can't even turn my A/c on the car takes forever to accerate without having to rev the crap out of it

problem two,

tranny jerks and makes weird like creaking noises... only jerks on downshifts from 2nd to 1st (when lighly breaking) or from 3rd to 2nd (when i step on it), makes a weird creeking noise also when shifts thorugh the lower gears. it also creeks when i go from park to drive, but i have seen this noise on other DSM cars, like dodge mivivans and a stratus of the same years

problem three,

car smokes bluish, i think my piston rings are going also i haven't really done a compression test... i use 10w40 with some no smoke stuff and it fixes the problem for about 1500k miles or so but now that its colder i have no problem with burning oil at all, although it seems like i can smell this exhaust like smell through my heat when not moving on some occations, i have no idea why

problem four,

car seems to also loose hp when i just turn my fans on full blast, even if the A/c is not on... its not very much loss but ive never noticed this in a car before.. it seems get sluggish alittle bit at about 2,300 then it goes ok again when it hits about 2,700

and yes i did buy the car like this.... i didn't seem to have any of these problems until i drive the car for about 3,000 miles, i prob did rush to buy it since it was very sharp looking.... has the oz rimes wit the gs-t wing and all the options

Problem 1: That's just how gay this car is. NO low end torque whatsoever. You might want to replace the spark plugs and wires, and make sure you gap them correctly (.045"-.050")

Problem 2: Get the tranny flushed and see if that helps.

Problem 3: No idea

Problem 4: I'm guessing spark plug issue again.

Have you done any maintenance on it at all?

Re: sluggish performance and tranny issues everything wrong

if thast just how the car is they should have never produced it.. its way underpowered for even getting from point a to point b, acually had the tranny flushed out when i bough it because the pan was leaking tranny fluid so it was replaced and the spark plugs were replaced also... and is running really rich

A number of posibilities, maybe your front oxygen sensor is fouling, is there an engine light on? Perhaps you skipped a tooth on your timing belt. Running rich for too long can plug up your catalitic converter and impeed exhaust. Maybe she's just bagged. The last owner made it look fast and probably drove her hard. Good luck!
