ceramic brake pads
I have a 99 Ford Explorer. I am looking for a brake pad that does not give off so much brake dust. I have been told by some that Ceramic brake pads are the way to go. Is this true? Do you get minimal brake dust from these types of peds then from a semi-metallic pad. My front brakes gives off alot of brake dust on the front wheels. Have to wash at least once a week. I do alot of stop and go driving.

Re: ceramic brake pads
The ceramic pads still create dust, it's just not as dark as the metallic pads. The lighter color is not as noticable so it looks like it's not as much. They also run a bit hotter than metallic pads but also seem to add some stopping power over the metallic ones that I've used.

Re: ceramic brake pads
I installed them on the wifes vehicle and she has said nothing about noise or dust. THAT is the true test.

i put ceramic pads in my 2000 els i think there great no dust they last longer stop better for me but they work on heat so if your real lite on the brake pedal then they wont heat up enough to work properly so if you aggressive with the pedal then there made for you but if your lite on the pedal then i don't recommend using them
