V Frustrated. Have brought my car into 3 GM dealers each time charged to scan & nothing shows as a failure. The car doesn't start - its like a lottery & when it does - it works for a week or two - then fails. When I turn the key the engine lights comes on and I hear a motor noise but the car doesn"t turn over. The light hum noise when I turn the key only lasts a few seconds and then nothing. I turn the key for 5 to 15 minutes then it starts.
I have had the ignition switch replaced - car worked for a week and stopped again like a lottery. Of course, when I take it to the dealer ti works and the scan shows nothing even though the Check Light stays on. Car has been at the dealer for 2.5 weeks and as I'm forced to drive a Rental car - my Aurora car has not acted up or not started. Now its time for me to go get my car - give back my rental and be very upset that no one and no dealer has a clue why my car does't start half the time! You should see the embarassement when I have a client in the car and I just turn the key over & over. Please - Please Help ME!!!! |

did you check battery connections, and make sure all are tight...when you say the car won't start, does it crank like it's out of gas or is there complete silence and you ONLY hear the fuel pump hummm ??? i'm guessing a battery or starter problem ??

Re: Re: Aurora 2001 v6 Intermittent starting - frustrated!
{QUOTE] Had the wires checked for corrosion and sanded them. When I turn the key its complete silence except the fuel pump humming - you are correct. The issue I have is the cost. Because tehre are so many unknowns and the Dealers have given up I cannot afford to replace so many things with the unknown. I financed the car used and will have it for 4 more years. It could be the fuel pump, starter, ignition, security system or the many modules under the hood.
I'm surprised that GM and anyone has not had this issue ever before or documented. Every scan is negative and I'm left with an intermittent car start. Frustrated

Re: Aurora 2001 v6 Intermittent starting - frustrated!
I would check the fusible links down by the starter first. The intermittent start may be caused by the link being burnt, but a wire or two inside the link making contact. This is, however, only a educated guess.

Have you checked the fuel pressure regulator? It causes those problems on intrigues, which have the same 3.5 dohc v6.
