16" to 15" rims, no probs?

I have a 2001 Alero GLS Gold package, 4 disk brakes with 4 16" original mags, can I switch to 15 inches rims for the winter, it won't rub on anything, like the calipers?

Thanks..

No problems, the swap will be OK. I'm assuming you want to go to 15" wheels for snowchains.

No, its that winter tires tends to be harder because of our cold winter weather here, lower profile tires will be a tough ride and the 15" are less expensive also.. I just want to make sure that a 15" wheel will fit the discs and calipers, i've heard of certain cars that a 15" wheel won't fit because there's not enough clearance around the calipers.

These wheels that i'm about to get came from a 2002 Alero, I guess they're all the same and should fit my 2001..

Oh, I see what you mean. It'll fit. Clearance around the caliper is the same either way. Up until the last year of production in 2004, the 15" tire size was P215/60R-15. If you stay with this size the diameters will match closely (24.86" versus 25.16"). When the speedo reads 65, actual speed will be around 65.78 mph with P215/60R-15. The 15" wheel width is 6" versus 6.5" for the 16". Bolt patterns are the same at 5 X 115mm.

Re: 16" to 15" rims, no probs?

Thank you sir.. I'll be getting a nice set of 15" wheels from that 2002 coupe, with some 215-60-15 BF Goodrich winter slalom tires as good as new. Along with wheel caps.. $400 for the whole package!..

Wife should be happy and safe with these!
