scanned code "Crank shaft sensor"

I have a 2001 Grand AM GT V6(3.4). When I accelerate the car jerks a few times, then the Service Engine Light comes triggers. It evenually goes off after a few days. This does happen every two weeks or so. I took it to all of the mechanics. One said I have 5 bad fuel injectors, I thought that was outrages but not impossible so I got a second opinion. No one else agreed with that. I had the fuel system tuned, and cleaned. It still happend. When the Service engine light came back on I had it scanned. The codes said crank shaft sensor and knock sensor. Does this mean that these sensors are being triggered by something else or the sensors needed to be replaced? Could these sensors be the problem, causing jerking in my acceleration?

I also heard a cranking/crackling sound when I was accelerating. This has really been bothering me. I don't want the problem to cause any other damage. Please Help!!!!!

Re: scanned code "Crank shaft sensor"

The crank sensor is the problem, and is triggering the knock sensor code.

Re: scanned code "Crank shaft sensor"

Crank sensor goes out and the car shouldn't run.

yeah if it was a crank sensor ur car would be stalling, mostly when its hot, but its possible it is a crank sensor. Is there any missfire codes???because that would also set those codes, maybe get ur plugs and wires cheaked

Re: scanned code "Crank shaft sensor"

I have to agree with richtazz on this one. Your crank sensor and cam position sensor are tied together to provide information to the computer on when to fire the ignition. If either fails or has a problem you will get a light. The crank sensor can start to go bad but the car will not fail to run. That is why you are getting a light. It is an early warning sign that something is going to happen. I would replace the crank sensor to see what happens.

The knock sensor is reading the misfires and detonation caused by the cps having problems and the code for it should go away once the cps has been replaced.
